“Making your Garden fit the Stages of your life”

Young, working, busy with children?-Your time in the garden may be estricted by other pressing needs. Older, but career and other demands of daily life steal your time? Learn how to use your spare time to create your dream garden and then savor the time you can relax in your garden. While our time spent in the garden can be limited by what’s happening now, with proper planning, we can take steps to garden throughout our lives.

Betty Sanders is a Lifetime Master Gardener with the Massachusetts Master Gardener Association. She is also a nationally accredited flower show judge. Betty has studied gardening everywhere from Arnold Arboretum to the New York Botanical Garden and the New England Wildflower Society.

Enjoy an evening of flowers and music sure to set the mood for the holiday season, as Al DeLuca AIFD and his wife Paula dazzle you with floral designs that draw their inspiration from the traditional sounds of the Christmas Season. As you listen to familiar carols and holiday selections play on the piano by Paula DeLuca, Al will design unique floral decor to grace your home for the holidays. Music and floral design share many of the same principles and elements, so, it is only natural that one would be the inspiration for the other. This is a unique program, not to be missed! You will find the presentation to be both inspirational and entertaining. Don’t miss this opportunity to spend a merry evening of lively entertainment and practical application.

Al DeLuca has been active in the floral industry for nearly 30 years. His career started as a freelance designer while he was a full time world language teacher. He was inducted into the American Institute of Floral Designer in 1995 and was inducted into the American Academy of Floriculture in 2002. From 1996 to 2008 Al owned and operated Flor-Al’s Inc in Worcester. During those years Al participated in the Boston flower show as an exhibitor and lecturer and was invited to design for the AIFD booth at the Philadelphia Flower show on three different occasions. He has taught several courses at Tower Hill Botanical Gardens and has been a presenter at many garden clubs and other organization. Al currently is teaching Spanish at St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury and is a freelance designer when time permits.

Paula DeLuca holds a bachelor’s degree in music from Anna Maria College and a master’s in music from Boston University. Paula taught music in the Worcester Public Schools for several years and presently is a private piano instructor of over 30 students. Paula has accompanied her husband, Al to several floral symposiums and workshops held throughout the United States. Most recently, she performed at the AIFD National Symposium held in Boston, Massachusetts in July of 2010. She and Al devised the program of Music and Its Relationship to Floral Design and they were featured at the Holden Garden Club’s spring meeting in February of 2010. It is a pleasure for them to be presenting a similar program for the Westboro Garden Club.

“Feng Shui Gardening: Love, Wealth and Meditation” presented by: Natalia Kaylin A Feng Shui assessment always starts by analyzing a site because the land itself is what offers the most support for the building and its occupants. In this workshop you will discover how the landscape around your home affects your wellbeing and luck and how to correct undesirable influences if they exist.

You will learn characteristics of an ideal property according to Feng Shui principles. You will see numerous examples of garden elements such as water features, paths, walkways, sculptures, and garden accessories and learn how to place them and combine them to create the most nurturing and beautiful garden.

You will learn how to have fun in the garden by creating a “love garden,” “wealth garden,” and a “meditation and healing garden.”

Natalia Kaylin is a leading Feng Shui expert in New England. She has consulted on countless projects in the greater Boston area and her services are sought out by people in both residential and commercial settings.
